In Margaret K. Woodworth’s, “The Rhetorical Précis” (1998) Margaret K. Woodworth strongly suggests the rhetorical précis will reinforce writing techniques, also learn to comprehend, question, read, and evaluate what is being read at the present time. The author has developed the Rhetorical Précis and states while learning the proper format the reader will learn to evaluate, ask questions, and understand what he or she has read. Also while practicing this format this will also help the reader to see and evaluate the main ideas. The purpose of the rhetorical précis is to basically open the reader’s eyes, and fully understand the purpose of what is being read. In order to comprehend the process the reader must practice this writing technique on a daily basis. I feel the description of the Rhetorical Précis will affect anyone who is wanting to better understand what is being read and to take the primary ideas from the text.
