Lester Faigley, Jack Selzer in their
book ”Good Reasons” chapter 7 implies that there are different tools to writing
an argument. The authors tell a story of a drunk driving incident and implies
that maybe checkpoints could be used more often, and also repeat offenders
should go straight to jail. The book states that by telling your story and
defining the argument such as drunk driving and comparing the treatments in
different states of the use of alcohol while driving. And also doing some
research on the laws in different state you might just have a good argument on
the use of check points, and also if a repeat offender should go directly to
jail. The purpose of this chapter I feel is to prepare us to write a good
argument, and also some good research will and can possibly make for a good
argument.
